After a long day at work, whether you work remotely or in the office, it can feel hard to be energized to do something, anything. You're likely feeling mentally and physically tired, and you probably want nothing more than to curl up in bed and take a quick nap before dinner. And while this is likely the reality for many of us workers, we're here to suggest it's time to live for the entire week, not just for the weekend.

What does this mean? Living for the weekend simply means you're waiting for the week to quickly pass by so you can finally do things that you enjoy and have fun by the time Saturday and Sunday come around. While it's not a bad thing to use the weekend as a motivator throughout your work days, it doesn't have to be this way! Every day can be fun and fulfilling if you put your mind to it.

So if you're looking for ways to make the most out of your day, even after a busy day at work, we've got the best tips and tricks for you. Here's to making every day count!

Don't Deny Yourself A Break

Some people may think that in order to have more time in their day, they need to stop doing something they think is 'wasting' their time. As a result, people often make this one very big mistake: cancelling their nap or rest period after work. People often confuse 'downtime' with 'laziness,' and this is one misconception we're here to set the record straight on.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a nap or having a moment to rest after work! In fact, not doing so will only make you feel more tired and unmotivated to do anything else. When you deny yourself a breather after a hard day, you're not just tiring yourself out more and risking falling back into old habits more quickly, but you're also reducing your enjoyment levels as a whole. Are you really going to enjoy knitting, reading, or going out with friends on a Wednesday night if you don't feel better rested?

What matters the most is making sure that when you do rest or take a nap, that you're not letting it get out of hand. You want to prevent yourself from letting the whole day become a rest day, or taking a five hour nap instead of a one hour one. It's all about being strict in the right places. As long as you're mindful of the time you're spending relaxing, you'll still have so much time left in the day to do the activities you love and want to set aside time for.

Schedule Your Happy Time

Wondering what 'scheduling your happy time' could possibly mean? It's simple: make sure you have uninterrupted moments in your day after work where you know you won't be bothered! These scheduled slots should be purely for whatever it is that you want to do and nothing else.

Maybe you're a workaholic who continues doing overtime even when you don't want to, or maybe you've gotten lazy and started putting off your weekend errands when you know you should be doing them. By scheduling times in your work day dedicated purely for your enjoyment, it forces you to think about your actions. Because in our work hard and grind culture, sometimes we forget that there's more to life than work. Or sometimes we forget making the most of our time on the weekends allows us to have better weekdays if we take care of our chores!

All this is is basically a reminder that we have to make every minute count. And when we delegate our time wisely, we can make every day feel far more fulfilling and satisfying by the time we go to sleep.

Unplug From Your Phone

The biggest distractor of the 20th century? Our phones by a landslide. At this point, we're all to familiar with the dangers and consequences of doomscrolling. Sometimes we innocently use our phones for a few minutes after work, only for it to turn into hours of endless scrolling through social media with no end in sight. And the worst part is? You always feel like you've wasted your time by the end of it.

It's almost scary how quickly the time passes when you're caught using your phone. Many of us lose our entire day to it! Because when you're finished work at 5 pm and you start going on your phone at 6, you know the whole night has been lost by that point.

So if you really want to make the most out of your days and either get out of the house or do something more productive, do your best to keep your phone away at all costs. You don't have to toss it away or anything, just make sure you're responsible with your usage. It's so easy to get sucked up in it!
