3 Chores You Always Complain About & 3 You Do Without A Word

3 Chores You Always Complain About & 3 You Do Without A Word

At the end of a long work week, when all you want to do is lie down in your comfiest pajamas and munch on your favorite snacks, it's your list of chores that reminds you you're an adult with responsibilities. It never really feels like the weekend until you tick off everything on your list, so that just means it's time to get moving. But as you scan through your task list, we're guessing you likely groan at the sight of some, while for others, it's a quick skim without a second glance. Some chores will do that to you - they'll make you feel tired before you even do them.

Because in the world of chores, there are a few that are guaranteed bad times because of how much effort and time they'll take, and there are some that, dare we say, can even be a bit enjoyable. Today, we're going to come clean and discuss all of our gripes when it comes to chores. Let's talk about the ones you probably always complained about, and the ones we're able to get done quickly without a word. But regardless of your feelings about them, we're betting your eight-year-old self is regretting wanting to grow up so rapidly.

Cleaning The Washroom

As far as annoying chores go, cleaning the washroom likely ranks at the top of most peoples' list. Not only is it tiresome and time-consuming, what people complain about the most is how you already know it's going to be incredibly dirty and disgusting before you even start. The thought of having to clean the toilet, sink, and shower, isn't exactly an appealing one, especially when you know what goes on in there.

You're definitely going to want some heavy duty wipes, disinfectants, and sponges lying around if you want to tackle this chore as efficiently and effectively as possible. Because let's be honest - we know you're not cleaning up your bathroom on the regular, which means you've got a lot of scrubbing in store. All that grime and debris stuck onto the tiles isn't going to clean itself!

Scrubbing The Windows

Speaking of scrubbing, cleaning the windows in your house doesn't seem like a whole lot of work, that is, until you do it for the first time. With just one swipe, your fresh handcloth will be covered in gunk! Many who have experienced the struggle that is scrubbing the windows deem it one of the worst, most difficult tasks to take care of in the house.

Despite only covering a small surface area, the amount of work it takes to fully clean a window will give you the most tiring arm workout of your life. Not to mention, windows are always in awkward spots that require you to lean over objects or reach out in uncomfortable ways. The amount of scrubbing you'll have to do will instantly make you fear the next time you'll be tasked with this chore again.

Washing Dishes

Despite being a daily chore that we should all have gotten over by now, washing dishes remains one of the most annoying responsibilities. It all has to do with how unpredictable it can be; some days, you end up with more dishes than you would've liked, and other days you have less to wash, but every single plate and bowl feels impossible to scrub clean.

You might be wondering, "Well, what about the dishwasher?" The frustration behind doing dishes doesn't just have to do with how easy or difficult it is, it's the fact that it's an everyday task that has to be done when you want to relax the most. Just think about it: after eating a delicious meal, do you sigh at the thought of having to clean up before you get to relax on the sofa and enjoy the rest of your evening? If your answer is yes, then you can see how for this chore, it's all about the mood and mentality that makes it worthy of complaining about.

It's not all doom and gloom though; while some chores, like the ones we just mentioned, are tough and make us never want to do them again, there are some that don't make us go insane. The ones listed below will have you realizing just how little you likely complain about them on the regular.

Folding Laundry

It's hard to explain, but there's something therapeutic and relaxing about folding your laundry. It doesn't take much energy or strength from you to finish, but it's a repetitive motion that can be done in your own pace. You can even put on some music or your favorite show in the background to lighten the mood! At that point, can you even call it a chore?

And for those of you who love being organized, there's something very satisfying about putting your clothes back in the closet, in the way you want it. Seeing everything laid out so nicely feels like a reward after your hard work (if we can call it that!).

Decluttering

Another chore that will satisfy our organized folk, decluttering can sometimes feel less like a responsibility and more like a fun activity that allows you to clean up at the same time. Decluttering can act like a stress-reliever as you get rid of all the junk you've been holding onto for so long. You may also discover some old, forgotten goodies and keepsakes that can make this chore an exciting one too.

The best part is, there's no timeline regarding how fast you need to do it. If you want to take your time and spread it out over a couple of days, you can, or if you're in the mood to move quickly, you can get it done within the day. It's entirely up to you and how you want to clean up your space.

Taking Care Of Pets

If you own a pet, you'll understand how taking care and looking after them hardly feels like a chore - it's something you want to do by choice! Whether it's preparing their daily meals and feeding them or taking them out on walks and giving them a bath, these chores hardly feel like they take effort on your part. In fact, we wouldn't be surprised if you do them with a smile! That's likely because you see them more as bonding opportunities to get closer with your furry friend; besides, it's often in these moments that they provide you with laughs and good memories too.
