20 Things Wives Desperately Want To Hear After Years Of Marriage
The Little Things Still Matter
After years of marriage, it’s easy for everyday life to become focused on schedules, chores, bills, work, and everything else that needs to get done. That doesn’t mean affection and appreciation stop mattering, though. Sometimes, a few sincere words from a husband can make his wife feel seen, valued, and appreciated all over again. These are the things many wives would love to hear, even after spending years together.
1. “I Still Choose You”
When you got married, you decided to spend the rest of your life with this woman. So when you tell her that you would still pick her, it means something. Maybe you got married 10 years ago, but telling her you would still decide to marry her shows that you’re still thinking about that.
2. “You Look Beautiful”
Once you're married, it’s hard to tell your spouse how beautiful they are, but that doesn't mean she doesn't want to hear it. Whether she's getting ready to go out or staying in, she'll always want to know that you think she's pretty. Tell her what you think when you see her looking good.
3. “I’m Proud Of You”
You don't always have to wait for her to accomplish something big to be proud of your wife. Maybe she handled a difficult situation, worked hard toward a goal, or simply kept everything moving during a stressful week. Letting her know that you notice those efforts shows that you’re paying attention to more than just the obvious achievements.
4. “Thank You For Everything You Do”
So many things that we do in our marriage go unnoticed. From knowing what appointments we have to keeping our house clean, she does so many things that you may never mention. A genuine thank-you tells her that those everyday efforts haven't gone unnoticed.

5. “I Love Our Life Together”
This is different from simply saying “I love you,” because it acknowledges the life you’ve built as a couple. Whether it’s your house, memories you have together, or even little inside jokes you have with each other. It’s something she will appreciate when you've been together for so long.
6. “You Make Me Laugh”
While you're going through life with your spouse, there will be times that you need to get things done and others that you need to have fun with. Tell your wife that you always laugh when she talks or that she always makes you laugh. It’s a simple reminder that you still enjoy being around each other.
7. “I Miss You When You’re Gone”
After you've been with someone for a long time, telling them that you miss them is very cute. It shows them that you think about them when they're not around you. Even if you’ve only been apart for a few hours, telling your wife that you noticed her absence can make her feel wanted.
8. “You’re My Best Friend”
When you're married, you're not only in love with someone, you consider them your best friend. Let your wife know that she’s the person you want to tell things to, laugh with, and spend time with when you have a choice. After years of shared experiences, recognizing that friendship can be especially meaningful.
9. “I’ve Got This”
Your wife may not need you to give her solutions or remind her of things she needs to do. Just let her know that she can relax and you will handle it for her. Offering to take something off her plate and reassuring her that you’ll handle it can be far more meaningful than giving another pep talk.
10. “Tell Me About Your Day”
Sometimes when you're married, you just start telling each other things about your day. Instead, ask her how her day was and really listen to what she says. Maybe there is nothing that you need to do but just hear her talk.
11. “I Love How You Think”
It’s great to compliment your wife on how she looks, but also compliment her on how she thinks. Tell your wife that you appreciate her perspective, creativity, problem-solving, or the way she approaches situations. It shows that your admiration goes well beyond what she looks like.
12. “You Were Right”
There will come a day where you have to admit that you're wrong and your wife is right. If she told you that you were wrong, then tell her that you were wrong. It will make her feel good knowing that you admitted it.
13. “Let’s Do Something Just For Us”
After you have been married for some time, you will be busy with kids or whatever else takes up your time. Suggesting something that’s just for the two of you reminds your wife that your relationship deserves attention, too. It doesn’t have to be an expensive vacation or elaborate date; even a simple evening together counts.
14. “I Love Hearing Your Stories”
You've probably heard your wife's stories many times over. That doesn’t mean she should feel like she has to retire them permanently. Telling her that you enjoy hearing her stories lets her know that her experiences remain interesting to you, even when you've heard some of them before.
15. “You Don’t Have To Do That”
Sometimes the sweetest thing you can tell your wife is that she doesn't have to do something. Maybe she is tired and needs to know that she can relax tonight and not worry about something. Giving her permission to put herself first for an evening can be a welcome change from another item on the to-do list.
16. “I’m Listening”
Everyone wants to feel heard. If your wife is talking to you about something, make sure you're listening to her. It can make all the difference.

17. “I’m Lucky To Have You”
Letting your wife know that you feel lucky to be married to her is very nice. It shows her that you aren't stuck in a marriage with her. After years of marriage, that kind of gratitude can help keep the relationship from feeling routine.
18. “I Remember That”
There will be little memories that you will remember from your time with your wife. Maybe you remember the restaurant where you had an early date, a joke she made years ago, or a detail from a story she told you long ago. Bringing those moments up shows that your shared history still matters to you.
19. “What Do You Need From Me?”
Instead of guessing what your wife wants from you, ask her. She may need help or want some love and affection. By asking her what she needs from you, you both will know what you need to do.
20. “I’d Do It All Over Again”
When you've been married for a long time, it's nice to let your wife know that you're happy that you married her. Yes, there have been stressful days, but tell her that you're glad that you spent your life with her. Knowing that you still value the decision to build that life together can be one of the most reassuring things she hears.
