20 Things People Do That Make Them Look "Uneducated" Right Away

Don't Do This

1. Lack of Curiosity

There are some who have an ingrained lack of curiosity. On the other hand, there are those who are proud of their own ignorance, disdaining knowledge or alternative viewpoints. The two traits together are a textbook example of an uneducated person.

2. Getting Loud

Some people think that if they raise their voice during an argument it makes what they are saying more correct. Rather than state facts or use reason, they try to demand authority by using volume. This just makes them seem uneducated and insecure about what they are saying.

3. Attacking Appearances

Attacking someone's physical looks after they lose an argument is just a sign of inattentiveness. It shows they cared more about something else instead of the subject matter. They resorted to name-calling instead of argumentation or proof.

4. Relying on Anecdotes

Some people take one isolated anecdote to be on par with real evidence. When trying to back themselves up, they use single stories instead of facts or statistics. This makes their argument weak, and it’s extra funny when they don’t see that and think their stories are at the same level as actual research.

5. Confidence

Some people believe that if they come off as confident, their ideas must be correct. They talk as if they have all the answers even when they have none. This can make them come off as uneducated because confidence does not equal competence.
