Some Names Have an Unfair Reputation
Alright, we’ll be honest: obviously, your name doesn't determine just how many chores you crush in one month. That said, there’s a certain stigma floating around some men's names that have collected oddly specific reputations. Like it or not, these 20 names might make the majority of women jokingly assume you know every possible shortcut.
1. Todd
Todd sounds like the guy who'll absolutely help you move…you know, if somebody else carries everything heavy. He arrives holding an iced coffee and immediately asks who's ordering lunch. But Todd still considers himself an essential part of the crew, which is fair because he definitely brings the vibes.
2. Kyle
Give Kyle one household chore, and he'll likely spend more time discussing the best way to approach it. Eventually, someone else gets impatient and handles the job themselves, which is exactly what he was waiting for. It’s an unfair assumption that he’ll sit on his keister, but plenty of women have it!
3. Cody
Cody has strong "I'll get to it tomorrow" energy, even when tomorrow has already arrived twice. Laundry can pile up, dishes can wait, and errands become next weekend's problem without much concern. However, for women who value initiative, that presumed relaxed attitude can read as plain laziness.
4. Gary
Nobody’s saying Gary can't work hard, but for the average woman, Gary has perfected strategic coffee breaks. If retirement is anywhere on the horizon, he's already mentally there, and women can easily associate that kind of mentality with someone who works hard at avoiding extra work.
5. Chad
To just about every woman, Chad just sounds like an enthusiastic fella as long as the plans involve enjoying himself rather than anyone else. He'll happily attend the barbecue, but setting up chairs, hauling coolers, or cleaning afterward becomes someone else's responsibility.
6. Kevin
There's something about Kevin that suggests an impressive ability to appear busy without actually doing much. He can walk around with a purpose, answer a few emails, and still leave the biggest task untouched. At least, those are the stereotypes the name puts out.
7. Randy
Blame it on Trailer Park Boys. Blame it on society. Whatever the case, it always seems that Randy's weekend to-do list has had "clean garage" on it since 2019. When they first hear the name, any woman tired of unfinished household jobs will think of that stereotype first—and it doesn't inspire confidence.
8. Trevor
Speaking of pop culture culprits, GTA V really didn’t help with Trevor. It just sounds like the name of someone waiting for the right moment to do work. Mowing the lawn can be delayed until it's too hot, too late, too wet, or suddenly next weekend. That endless ability to find a reasonable excuse is why some women may hear the name and think procrastinator.
9. Bobby
Bobby sounds like someone who owns plenty of tools but rarely remembers where any of them are. Though harmless in theory, asking him to fix a dripping faucet can also become a 45-minute hunt through the basement. Women see a combo of good intentions and zero follow-through as a reliable sign of laziness.
10. Dustin
You’d think Dustin Hoffman would’ve saved this one, but no such luck. Women tend to hear the name and immediately assume that he’ll sit on his rump roast without doing anything, which is a hard pill to swallow when weekend chores arrive.
11. Shane
Shane seems to have a reputation for arriving just late enough that most of the work is already done. It doesn’t matter what he actually does with his life—it’s all about how the name carries itself upon first introductions. Women quickly decide he's much better at claiming credit than putting in effort.
12. Craig
For the average gal, Craig sounds like someone who can turn a five-minute break into the rest of the afternoon. Once he sits down and turns on the TV, whatever chore was supposed to happen loses all urgency. For women who prefer a partner with a little gumption, the stereotype has particularly lazy energy.
13. Joey
Calling him Joseph might help a little, but some guys really prefer going by Joey, and that doesn’t always help their name. To most women, it just sounds permanently ready for fun. While that’s a good thing in theory, it can also make them get their back up, wondering if he’ll contribute.
14. Brent
Brent gives off the impression that he knows exactly how much effort his boss expects and refuses to exceed it. He's efficient when necessary, but ambition ends at quitting time. Unfortunately, to women who admire initiative, that determination never to excel can come across as lazy rather than efficient, even if it’s not at all true.

15. Jason
Whether it’s fair or not, Jason is the name attached to a lot of imaginary chores. The hardware may already be purchased and sitting in the hallway, but finding the motivation to actually install anything is another matter. Women often judge laziness by repeated unfinished promises, which doesn't help the stereotypes so often associated with this one.
16. Derek
Derek kind of sounds like the guy who finds someone else to do his work—regardless of whether that happens or not. Rather than struggling with a difficult task, women assume he’ll call a friend, pass over a screwdriver, and offer moral support from nearby. Women can also notice when "delegating" is just a clever way of avoiding work.
17. Tucker
Tucker sounds like an energetic guy…until the day involves anything less entertaining than sports or a road trip. When women meet a Tucker, they might immediately assume that this guy wants to crack a cold one and kick up his feet. Now, the tides are against him even more!
18. Jeremy
The name Jeremy has the kind of reputation that turns an overflowing trash can into a test of patience. It’s easy for women to assume that he’ll keep letting things stack rather than tackling his to-do list. Women start envisioning that behavior as deliberate laziness.
19. Brody
Brody has picked up a stereotype as the kind of guy who'd rather find the easiest way to do something. Some women might picture him researching a new gadget or shortcut before tackling a basic chore, which can make the name seem a little too relaxed about hard work. It's more of an easygoing reputation than a lazy one, but the association still sticks.

20. Dylan
Dylan often comes with a laid-back stereotype that makes people imagine someone who doesn't rush unless he has to. To some women, that can translate into a guy who rarely treats a minor task like an emergency. The impression is less "won't do anything" and more "will get to it eventually."
